Who I am

I’m Kevin Saliou, I’ve been working in web development since 2000. I’ve been living in Nantes, France since 2016 after spending 17+ years abroad (USA, United Kingdom, Germany & Spain). After working for a couple of companies in the online payment industry, I worked as a freelance web consultant. I have lead several projects and teams for various clients, following Agile Methodologies (Scrum - I’m a Certified Scrum Master) and using state of the art web technologies. Eventually I joined one of those projects as a “hands-on CTO” and am now available “on demand” to help companies both technically and at the technical management level (project & people management, recruiting, …). I have experience in classifieds, online payment, travel / booking industries, online advertising, betting solutions, high traffic platforms. I have tried launching my own projects on several occasions and believe that one always learns from his past experiences and mistakes.

I specialize in:

  • Project and team management
  • Tech recruiting
  • Classifieds marketplace, booking platform, payment processing, online payment, betting solutions, online advertising
  • End User Experience, Accessibility / Usability, Mobile
  • Javascript, PHP, Python, CSS
  • Mysql / MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Mongodb
  • Nginx, Apache
  • Git, Bazaar, SVN
  • Linux / Unix
  • Frameworks (Symfony 1..5, Django, SvelteKit, Phalcon PHP…), Doctrine1/2, Svelte

Here is a list of Open Source projects I’ve been working on privately :

  • regadata - open data for regatta I’m fond of sailing. In 2012 while following the Vendée Globe, I got frustrated by the official rankings only available in closed Excel format. So I decided to open up those data and make them available in an accessible and responsive webapp.
  • Spain’s petrol stations’ prices An intent to make official spanish petrol stations’ price data more usable, and showcase its usage with a simple webapp.
  • sportandbar.es I founded and ran the Spanish version of allomatch.com, a site which links TV sports programs with an extensive directory of bars.
  • sportgossip This is a personal project which pretends to extend Twitters’ lists functionality. It is a database of official athletes’ twitter accounts grouped in several manageable categories.
  • php-redmine-api A simple PHP Redmine API client, Object Oriented.
